You may feel down or overrun with anxiety and joy is a distant emotion. Maybe you and your partner are not getting along like you once did and you feel angry, unheard, and stuck. You are ready for change, but you are overwhelmed and do not know where to begin. I would love to help you start that process of reconnecting to the joy in your relationships and to all areas of your life.
We are social beings and we often thrive in positive relationships with others. Our relationships teach us about ourselves, help us grow, and can bring us great satisfaction. However, within our closest relationships we can get stuck in negative cycles of fear, anger, and resentment. At this point, our communication suffers, and we feel disconnected from our loved one.
With training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, I work with couples to help them learn how to acknowledge their individual emotions, communicate effectively, and deepen their connection. We utilize and celebrate strengths within the relationship to foster intimacy and recover joy.
I also work with individuals and have a specific interest in helping with depression, anxiety, grief, and life transitions. My training and approach are both cognitive behavioral as well as internal family systems.
I believe that having a positive relationship with yourself is fundamental in life and I derive great satisfaction from helping people strengthen this relationship. I approach this by helping people learn how to challenge some of their negative thought patterns as well as how to process difficult emotions instead of shoving them away or resorting to numbing by Netflix, alcohol or social media. My hope is that people will learn to have compassion and acceptance for all parts of themselves. Further, I enjoy helping individuals move forward in life in a way that is grounded in their unique values.
